If Valentine’s Day Feels Tender, This Is for You 💜

Hello Reader,

Last week in the Monthly Living With Grief webinar, we spent time with a practice that felt especially right for this season. I led a shorter version of my Journey to Your Heart Center meditation, and it was powerful to witness.

Valentine’s Day can stir up a lot. Even if you tell yourself it is just another day, the imagery is everywhere. Hearts. Romance. Partnership.

It can feel like the world is highlighting what is no longer physically present. Your nervous system notices. Your body notices. And that does not mean anything is wrong with you. It means you loved.

Even if your loss is not a romantic partner - a child, a parent, a friend, a pet - the love imagery can still tip you over.

In the workshop, we focused on continuing bonds. The reality that we do not move on from love. We carry it. We nurture it. We stay connected in ways that are internal and embodied.

After guiding the shorter version live, I decided to share the full version with all of you today. If your heart feels tender, this practice gives you a gentle way to turn toward it instead of away from it.

A Valentine’s Day Grief Guided Visualization

This meditation can be used any time of year, but holidays like today can make it especially meaningful. Your heart is not empty. It may be aching. It may be soft. But it is still full of love.

With lovingkindness,

P.S. This meditation is not just for Valentine's Day. It can be helpful anytime you want to connect to your heart center.

Hello Reader, A new episode of the Mindfulness & Grief Podcast is out today. In this conversation, Amanda and I explore the second step in the Mindfulness & Grief system: mindful awareness. Many people think mindfulness means clearing the mind or forcing ourselves to stay calm. In grief, that can feel impossible. Mindfulness is not about having fewer thoughts. It is about learning how to see them more clearly. 🎧 Listen here: Episode 60: From Rumination to Wisdom (or search for Mindfulness &...

Hello Reader, Grief is not something I believe we are meant to navigate alone. It is relational. It unfolds in conversation, in reflection, and in being witnessed. And over time, I realized that I no longer wanted to be having these conversations by myself. So I want to introduce you to Amanda Palermo, who is joining me as the new cohost of the Mindfulness & Grief Podcast. Amanda has been part of my world for a long time. She is a member of Awaken, walked her own path through grief, and...

Hello Reader, I’m so excited about the next Mindfulness & Grief Coach Certification, and I wanted to reach out personally with a brief update. We already have a beautiful cohort forming, including grief professionals, yoga teachers, and others who feel called to support people through loss with presence, care, and skill. At this point, only 5 of the 24 spaces remain. Tuition...
