How Is Your Heart on Valentine's Day?

Hello Reader,

Valentine’s Day can be a bittersweet reminder of the love we’ve shared and the loss we carry. It’s a day that magnifies the absence of someone we hold dear, while also celebrating love—a paradox that can leave us feeling tender and conflicted.

If you’re grieving the loss of a spouse, partner, or any loved one for that matter, I want to remind you: grief isn’t about letting go. It’s about learning to carry love forward in a new way. It’s about keeping the bond alive, even as life changes.

I am sharing this special practice to help you honor your love—a guided visualization meditation designed to gently bring connection and comfort into your heart. It is an oldie but a goodie, one of my favorite practices when I want to connect to the love that remains.

Whether you’re missing a romantic partner or another cherished loved one, this meditation offers a moment of solace amidst the noise of the day.

You’ll find simple steps to help you nurture the bond that endures and suggestions for ways to honor your love after the meditation. Let this practice remind you that love always lives on in your heart.

You are not alone in your grief. If you feel called to connect with others on this journey, consider joining our Awaken Grief Support community. Together, we carry love forward and find hope in each other.

With lovingkindness,

In last week’s Meditation & Journaling class in Awaken, members embodied this idea through a guided meditation and journaling practice designed to help you sit with what...
