About the program

This training introduces the 8-Step Mindfulness & Grief System, a trauma-informed approach that blends contemporary grief theories with accessible, body-based practices.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Use mindfulness-based practices can alleviate the physical and emotional symptoms of grief.
  • Recognize common barriers clients face when trying mindfulness and offer adaptations for increased accessibility.
  • Integrate mindfulness-based and self-compassion strategies into grief counseling to support emotional regulation and foster resilience.

We’ll explore practical, real-world techniques—including breathwork, journaling, and self-compassion—grounded in ancient contemplative traditions and adapted for modern, secular clinical care.

This framework is featured in The Handbook of Grief Therapies and helped me earn the 2025 ADEC Clinical Practice Award. I’d love to share it with you.
